Vashon Island Harp Camp

August 1-3 and August 3-5

Vashon Island Harp Camp spanned August 1-5, with an adult session offered by Scottish harp specialist SEUMAS GAGNE, noted arranger and harper BETH KOLLÉ and lever/pedal harp teacher LESLIE McMICHAEL, followed by a youth camp with the teaching talents of GWEN LYONS BAKER, Suzuki specialist BIANCA COLLINGS and LESLIE McMICHAEL.
More great music was made, and Leslie not only convinced everyone to play Spoons, we also produced a one-of-a-kind production of Jack and the Beanstalk (with little else but construction paper, string and review songs!)

Evergreen Flute & Harp Suzuki Institute

July 22-26

Evergreen Flute and Harp Suzuki Institute took place July 22-26 in the beautiful Mount Baker National Forest near Bellingham. Musicians from far (North Carolina, New York, Nevada, Utah) and near (Washington, Oregon and Idaho) came together for five days of music in the mountains. Great harp and flute duets and Leslie learns how to play Spoons!

2007... what happened last year?

“Peter Pan” (1924) was selected as the closing film for the Astoria International Film Festival running October 26-28 at the historic Liberty Theatre in Astoria, Oregon. On Sunday, October 28, Leslie accompanied the silent film live with her original three harp score to provide a celebratory conclusion to the film festival’s inaugural year.

Peter Pan flew to Vashon Island near Seattle for a show at the Vashon Theatre, the island's beloved and historic movie palace, on Sunday, October 14. Leslie performed her original three harp score live for the film screening. Liz Shepherd of Northwest Film Forum called the music "innovative and especially exciting in that Leslie's performance alternated between Celtic, concert, and electric harps."

"Seventeen-year-old Betty Bronson was hand picked by author J. M. Barrie to play the boy who wouldn’t grow up, in Paramount’s star studded production of "Peter Pan." Delightful art direction (frolicking mermaids on the beach, flying pirate ships) and perfect casting (Anna May Wong as Tiger Lily, Ernest Torrence as Captain Hook and Mary Brian as Wendy) made "Peter Pan" a charming, magical holiday sensation in 1924. An impishly joyful Bronson lit up the screen as Peter, while Barrie’s original text was used for the intertitles in what remains the finest telling of this well-loved paean to eternal childhood."
