| LESLIE MCMICHAEL feels lucky to be doing what she loves for a living. A graduate of Wellesley College, her musical pursuits include performance, teaching, recording, and composition. Leslie received extensive training in the Suzuki Method for young harpists and originated the harp department at the Suzuki Institute of Seattle where she taught for five years. She now directs three independent Suzuki harp programs in the greater Seattle area. In 1992, Leslie co-founded the Vashon Island Harp School with Laurie Riley and Michael MacBean, and the trio’s summer harp camp became a much anticipated annual ritual for many. Leslie’s arrangements are available from Mel Bay Publishing and Vanderbilt Publications, and she’s currently in the recording studio working on two releases of traditional music for lever harp and original songs on her electric harp. She is past president and vice president of the Seattle Chapter of the American Harp Society, past president of the Suzuki Association of Washington State, has served as harp competition judge for the Pacific Northwest Scottish Games and as district adjudicator at the Washington State Solo and Ensemble Contest sponsored by the Washington Music Educators Association. She lives on Vashon Island in a purple house with her wonderful husband and five wonderful cats. | ||
